Welcome to our weather page

  Temperature

This page gives you real time information for today's temperature; wind direction, speed and chill; solar radiation; rainfall and barometer readings.   The page also gives summary charts for recent records for temperature, pressure and rainfall. The charts and readings are updated every 5 minutes.

The weather data are from instruments maintained by the National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit, at the University of Worcester.  This is not a Met Office Site.

Solar Radiation

This reading is a measure of the intensity of the sun's radiation reaching a horizontal surface.  The measurement includes both the direct radiation from the sun and the reflection from the rest of the sky.  The measurement is in Watts per square metre (W/m2).

The yellow bar shows the current reading with the red line showing the highest measurement that has been achieved today.

Wind Direction:   162 degrees

  Wind Direction

Wind Speed:  0.0 m/s

Wind Speed

The Wind speed chart is showing the speed of the wind in metres per second (m/s).

Approximations:
5 m/s = gentle breeze
7 m/s = moderate breeze
10 m/s = fresh wind

To convert the readings into miles per hour (mph) multiply the reading by 2.237

Wind Chill:

Wind-chill is a measure of the amount of heat lost from the skin as the wind blows across it.

When the temperature is 0°C, a ten knot wind (gentle breeze) will make it feel like -5°C.

Barometer

A barometer measures the amount of air pressure (in millibars (mb))

Low pressure occurs when air is warm, expands, gets lighter and rises. High pressure occurs when air gets cold, contracts, becomes heavier and sinks.

The change in barometric pressure helps to forecast the weather.

Decreasing air pressure often indicates the approach of a low pressure area, which often brings clouds and rain. Increasing air pressure often means that a high pressure area is approaching, bringing with it clearing or fair weather.
