BAF Publication The British Aerobiology Federation has produced a manual to assist those involved with, or those training for pollen and spore monitoring: "AIRBORNE POLLENS AND SPORES A GUIDE TO TRAPPING AND COUNTING" It covers the full procedures of pollen and spore monitoring: Chapter I - Introduction: The importance of the pollen count and features of it. Chapter II - Using the Burkard Spore trap: Covers preparation and changing of the drum, mounting the tape and use of 24 hour traps. Chapter III - Using a microscope: includes laboratory checklist and measuring and calibration of the microscope. Chapter IV - Pollen and spore counts: covers how to do a standard pollen count, how to convert the totals, using eyepiece graticules and vernier scales. Appendices: there are six appendices covering tape coating and slide mounting recipes, microscope structure, pollen identification, useful references, suppliers and a standard recording form.
